DRESSMAKING COURSE 101
About Course
In this Dressmaking Course 101 you will learn how to take measurements needed for drafting the bodice /torso block. You will then go on to draft the front and back bodice/torso block patterns professionally using the measurements obtained along with the
corresponding proportions on the chart.
This lesson includes how to calculate for your front shoulder dart, your underarm
proportion, bust arc and bust span, among other skills you will learn along the
way.
The uniqueness of the drafting method used in this course, is that it takes into
consideration and caters for different cup sizes so that, the need for a full bust
adjustment is minimised if not eliminated.
This course is the foundation that will help you sew well fitted garments for
yourself and others.
Once you learn how to make individualised bodice/torso block patterns
professionally, you can easily style them according to the design of your garments
by following the steps in our subsequent garment making courses.
A bodice block is a representation on paper of the upper part of your garment;
from shoulder to waist. A Torso block is one that extends up to the hip.
If you have ever wanted to learn how to draft the bodice/torso block – this step by
step tutorial is for you!
I am going to walk you through the process of creating, to a professional standard,
a female bodice/torso block, one step at a time, so that you can start
creating sewing patterns from it that fit perfectly.
